NANDED : Two brothers are in the fray for two different elections in Nanded. The banner of two parties is flapping for both the brothers.
While sitting Congress MLA Mohan Hambarde, is in fray for elections from Nanded South Assembly seat, his elder brother, Santuk, is BJP candidate for Nanded Lok Sabha bypoll.
He has garnered wider acceptance outside Nanded after emerging as the winner in the 2019 assembly polls. The elder brother is BJP's district unit chief and had received news headlines when he got a ticket for the bypoll.
This BJP nominee reacted sharply to this new political development, saying his house was also broken earlier.
"BJP is known for breaking political parties and houses of political leaders and it has now committed sin by targeting my house. The people of Nanded however are wise and know whom to side with", he said addressing media persons on Tuesday.
This MLA even claimed that he is even more in touch with people than his elder brother, who has been carrying a political legacy.
As expected, Congress has declared Ravindra Chavan as its candidate for Nov 20 bypoll for the Nanded Lok Sabha seat. Ravindra is the son of deceased Congress MP Vasant Chavan whose death has called for this bypoll.
BJP names Santuk Hambarde after Pratap Patil Chikhalikar shows no interest in fighting again for Nanded Lok Sabha seat from where he lost last time.
From Nanded South, Shiv Sena, through Eknath Shinde, has nominated Anand Tidke Patil, who will face the sitting MLA.
