Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The election authorities' direction has brought 28 school principals of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district under the scanner as they have been booked for allegedly withholding the teacher data. Another 21 principals are to be taken to task, and some stakeholders have reacted badly to it.
The election authorities wanted the teacher data to give out election duties for the upcoming assembly polls. Sambhajinagar Zilla Parishad Education Officer Jayashri Chavan said that so far, three principals of schools at Sillod and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have faced action against them.
\"The returning officers asked us to take action against the school principals, and the Block Education Officers are in the process of registering an offence,\" she said.
Several of the principals against whom action is being initiated are from schools owned by political leaders, who participate in the November 20 assembly elections. Certain sections in the education department allege that principals have become scapegoats as it is political leaders who are management representatives that are being kept off the hook.
"politicians running the schools deliberately had teachers' data withheld from the district administration. they intended to utilize their teachers for their personal political propaganda," said one school principal, who wished not to be named.
If the principals who have been booked are not released, we will start an agitation. Management representatives are the actual culprits and should be dealt with," he said.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district collector Dilip Swami could not be contacted for comments.
