Nanded (Maharashtra): In a unique initiative, the zilla parishad (ZP) in Nanded has launched a special initiative: 'Nanded Che Ninja' or 'Ninjas of Nanded' — with the intention of involving students and teachers to overcome civic and environmental issues.
As part of a three-month initiative in association with nongovt org 'Reap Benefit', teachers and students will work together to transform Nanded into a hub of engaged citizens and effective problem solvers.
Nanded ZP CEO Minal Karanwal said, "It is a program through which the power of the community along with the working partnership with the youths will solve local issues.".
"The project engages more than 200 teachers and over 3,000 students to be involved with civic and environmental issues," he said. It would not only help in developing 21st century skills among the youth but also bring in the sense of community and responsibility that would impact the city for a very long time, he said.
"It will also create a positive change to our city significantly and inspire other cities to do the same," the officer added.
The organization recently organized its first ever workshop which saw the first set of 200 teachers from govt-run schools in Nanded undergo training as part of the briefing process for the rollout of the program.
Reap Benefit empowers youth to create meaningful civic and environmental action at the hyper-local level.
The organization is currently working with over 1.2 lakh young changemakers.
